BaseCamp athlete Cat Paquin shared her experience at an early-season group ride in South Carolina after completing our winter group coaching program.
You guys, our training works! lol
Last night I went to a new-to-me fast ride on a roads I've never been on with guys that I always thought of as too fast for me. While super anxious and apprehensive, I remained confident and told myself I belonged there. I leaned heavily on my BaseCamp training and focused on my forward/stomp pedal stroke.
The 2 groups rode out together, then the racers took off on a right turn, I didn't know they were about to go, but then I was the only one that bridged the gap. I stayed with them until mile 17 when I got dropped after a massive pull. I thought I'd be caught by the group behind me within a mile or 2, but I held my solo gap for 10 miles! I got a QOM, 8 trophies and 2 PRs, and a 2nd place all time 1 hour power record.
There's still so much room for improvement, mentally and physically, but I am just so excited to share how well BaseCamp works.
Also, can't wait to keep transitioning back to riding outside, and hope to have the chance to ride with you all in real life!
Thank you Namrita, Tina, and Tim for our consistent and motivating training. Last night was definitely Type II Fun.
