BaseCamp athlete Sharon Keith shared her experience at the 2024 IRONMAN New Zealand, where she finished 3rd woman in her age group!
It was a spectacular day on the north island of New Zealand. I did what I came to do. I hoped to finish the race and get on the podium. The outcome is never certain... there's the gradual build over time, training the mind and the body on "how," then there is the clock on race day where every decision influences the outcome in the next few moments. Lucky for me, I have the energy and wisdom of the Ohana that supports me. My deepest gratitude to ALL fellow Hawaii and Basecamp athletes, coach Michelle Simmons, lifelong coaches Raul Torres and Atomman Kimm, my Running Angel Kelsey Liu who got me though this run, my training sisters and fellow racers Brenda, Gwen, Joy, Michele, Denee, Christina, and Marcy, my brothers Attoman Kimm and Bob Bengtson and Tradewinds Cycling Team and strength coach Menachem, all Basecamp coaches, and my friends and family. I am truly blessed. 🙌
